Plaça de Santa Eulàlia

The square centers on a fountain topped by a bronze statue of Saint Eulalia, the young martyr who serves as a protector of Palma. Behind the statue rises the Church of Santa Eulalia, distinguished by its heavy, fortress-like stone walls and tall, pointed Gothic arches that dominate the western edge of the plaza. In the thirteenth century, this site housed the first parish church built by the conquering Catalan forces, serving as the spiritual anchor for the city's newly established Christian nobility.
